The sample browser is your gateway to thousands of sounds. Browse, search, preview, and drag samples directly into your project.
Opening the Sample Browser
Click the Samples tab in the bottom panel. The browser displays categories on the left and sample results on the right.
Browsing by Category
FlowState organizes samples into intuitive categories:
- Drums — Kicks, snares, hi-hats, percussion, full drum loops
- Bass — 808s, synth bass, acoustic bass, bass loops
- Melodic — Piano, keys, synths, guitars, strings
- Vocals — Vocal chops, ad-libs, full vocal loops
- FX — Risers, impacts, transitions, textures
- Loops — Full musical loops ready to drop in
Click a category to see its samples. Click subcategories to narrow down further.
Searching
Type in the search box to find specific sounds:
- Keywords — "808 kick", "trap snare", "vinyl crackle"
- Vibes — "dark", "happy", "aggressive", "mellow"
- Artist references — "Metro Boomin", "Travis Scott", "lo-fi"
- Technical terms — "C minor", "140 BPM", "one shot"
Previewing Samples
Click any sample to preview it. The sample plays immediately so you can quickly audition options.
- Single click — Play sample once
- Double-click — Add sample directly to timeline
- Spacebar — Stop/restart preview
Adding Samples to Your Project
Drag and Drop
- Find a sample you like
- Click and hold the sample
- Drag it onto the timeline
- Release to drop it at your desired position
Quick Add
- Double-click — Adds sample to a new track at the playhead
- Enter key — Same as double-click for the selected sample
Sample Information
Each sample shows useful metadata:
- Name — Descriptive filename
- Duration — Length in seconds
- BPM — Original tempo (for loops)
- Key — Musical key (for melodic samples)
- Tags — Categories and descriptive keywords
Filters
Narrow down results with filters:
- Type — One-shot vs Loop
- BPM Range — Filter by tempo
- Key — Filter by musical key
- Duration — Short, medium, or long samples
Click the filter icon next to the search box to access these options.
Collections
Save frequently used samples to collections for quick access:
- Right-click a sample
- Select Add to Collection
- Choose an existing collection or create a new one
Access your collections from the sidebar in the sample browser.
Recently Used
Click Recent in the sidebar to see samples you've used recently. This makes it easy to reuse sounds across projects.
Sample Kits
Sample kits are curated collections of related sounds—perfect for quickly getting started with a cohesive sound palette:
- Lo-Fi Kit — Dusty drums, warm keys, vinyl textures
- Trap Kit — 808s, hard snares, dark melodies
- Vintage Kit — Classic drum machine sounds
- Ambient Kit — Pads, textures, atmospheric sounds
Click on a kit to load all its samples into a dedicated folder.
