Collections help you organize your samples into groups that make sense for your workflow. Create collections for projects, genres, sound types, or any way you like to work.
What Are Collections?
Collections are folders for your samples:
- Group related samples together
- Quickly access sounds for a specific project
- Keep your library organized as it grows
- Share collections across projects
Creating a Collection

Open the Samples panel
Click "Samples" in the bottom panel or press 3. -
Click "New Collection"
Look for the folder+ icon or "New Collection" button. -
Name your collection
Give it a descriptive name. -
Start adding samples
Drag samples into the collection.
Adding Samples to Collections
Drag and Drop
- Drag samples from the browser onto a collection
- Drag multiple samples at once
- Samples can be in multiple collections
Right-Click Menu
- Right-click on a sample
- Select "Add to Collection"
- Choose the collection
From Search Results
- Search for samples
- Add results to a collection for later
- Great for curating sounds during a session

By Project
- "Album Project Drums"

- "Trap Essentials"

Tip: Create a "Go-To" collection with your favorite, most-used samples. This saves time when starting new projects.
Managing Collections
Renaming
- Right-click the collection
- Select "Rename"
- Type the new name
Deleting
- Right-click the collection
- Select "Delete"
- Confirm deletion
Note: Deleting a collection doesn't delete the samples—they stay in your library.
Reordering
- Drag collections to reorder them in the sidebar
- Drag samples within a collection to reorder
Smart Collections
FlowState includes some automatic collections:
- Recent — Recently added or used samples
- Favorites — Samples you've starred
- Generated — Sounds created by AI
Favorites
Mark samples as favorites for quick access:
- Hover over a sample
- Click the star/heart icon
- Find favorites in the Favorites collection

Tips for Organization
- Start simple — Don't over-organize, add collections as needed
- Use clear names — Names should be self-explanatory
- Review periodically — Remove samples you don't use
- Cross-reference — It's OK for samples to be in multiple collections
